About Us

Welcome to Simply Yours, Katie! My name isn’t actually Katie, it is Karen. Let’s be honest, would you really want to take advice or shop for products that a “Karen” likes? So, where did Katie come from? I used to work in a corporate office and a coworker from another department was terrible with names. He knew it started with a “K” and just kept calling me Katie. I never corrected him and just started to answer him when he called me by that name. It definitely confused a whole lot of people, that is for sure.

I have always been driven to work additional that made some extra money and were enjoyable for me. I love writing, I love Pinterest, and I love shopping, which landed me here. It is a nice getaway in my mind from my day-to-day life. I have two boys who are 26 years old (loves Disney) and 21 years old (dislikes Disney). This makes for a fun vacation discussion. Our goal in the next couple of years is to start expanding our travel to Europe a bit more. My eldest son would like to do a futball stadium tour. Which I think would be super fun for him. My youngest would like to revisit Italy and see his cousins, who he hasn’t seen in 10 years.

Let’s talk about the 4 furbabies!!

Lilo and Thor are littermates born 11/24/2021. They were an accidental litter from my brother’s dogs. He needed homes for the litter. Initially, I was going to keep Lilo, and my eldest was going to take Thor once he was done college. Needless to say, my eldest AND Thor are still home. The primary mix of Lilo and Thor is Husky and German Sheppard.

I thought we were complete until I saw a Facebook post that a dog was found hanging by animal control and was marked DOA. MJ was left chained to a heavy chain. She tried to jump over the fence near her and ended up hanging herself. She was very much underweight and sent to an overpopulated shelter in GA. They gave her 10 days to be adopted or they needed to euthanize her to make room for more incoming dogs. I reached out and got connected to a rescue who was able to pull her and transport her to me, states away. She arrived just before midnight on April 15, 2023.

Fast forward a year and I was trying to figure out how else I could help with the overcrowding in shelters. I looked at the local city’s shelter timestamped list and saw Benji was set to be euthanized that same day so offered to foster Benji. They were able to find a rescue and I picked him up on August 27, 2024. Well, Benji has not left and was adopted on September 27, 2024.

I think our pack is officially FULL! All 4 dogs are under 5 years old, so we have a lot of memories to be made for years to come.
